The Friendship Club – TFC, on 15th August 2017 celebrated Independence Day at Kidzania, R-City Mall with 100 lesser privileged boys from Our Lady’s Home. Joining TFC in this endeavor were 70+ priviledged children from Bombay Scottish School, Mahim who went out of their way and served selflessly. Parents of these privileged homes and volunteers also joined us in this noble endeavour.
Our objective was to reach out to the lesser privileged while also raising a generation of children to love and serve one another through Dosti – A Social Engineering Program. Dosti is a platform created to build & revive the social engineer in all – a stepping stone for the young and enthusiastic, to share their privileged lives and grow in areas unseen and untouched. It is a program, which helps bring people from different environments under one roof to share and care.
India’s first global indoor theme park for families that empowers inspires and educates kids through real-life, role-playing activities like that of a pilot, dentist, fireman, and yes, a chef too! It is an environment which allows kids to explore, challenge themselves and open their minds to new experiences with fun.
Our Day @ Kidzania:
The day began with a reunion between the children from Our Ladys’s Home and Bombay Scottish School, Mahim at Kidzania. It was a beautiful site to see, sheer love. After a short prayer we entered Kidzania at 10:30. We grouped the kids from Our Lady’s Home into 20 teams of 5 and each team had 2-3 Care captains who were their friends from Bombay Scottish School, Mahim. Each team name was thoughtfully named after people who created History with humble beginnings as the season’s theme was HISTORY MAKERS. Dhoni, Gates, Jobs, Dharmesh etc. were some of the teams.
The care captain of course had to teach the little ones what was the meaning of their team name. And well the fun began. The whole team of 200 persons spread out to enjoy kidzania. We took a small break from the fun for lunch and quickly got back to having more fun.
Soon it was time to end the fun but before we said our goodbyes TFC had a lot more planned. We had the very beautiful Actress & Model Chahatt Khanna Mirza Beig along with her husband Farhaan Mirza and little Baby Zohar who came as a surprise visit and spent time with the children at Kidzania and encouraged the kids to dream big and focus on studies. We also had the 3 rd Fastest in India to solve a Rubik’s Cube – Jay Yadhav to show some of his tricks to our kids and as a return gift we gave each child from Our Lady’s Home their very own Rubik’s cube and encouraged them to be a Genius.
We then handed each Child and Volunteer a scrumptious snack box as an end to yet another successful and impactful event and bid adieu. Thank you all for your prayers, donations and support in making this outreach possible.
We look forward to having more of such events. One orphan child at a time and together we will reach them all. Reaching out… because people matter.
